Talk:

  • It’s a Dog Life” – everything for the dog lover including choosing a dog, getting a new puppy and a guide to living with your best friend.

On television Carolyn has been a judge on 2 series of “Top Dog” for Animal Planet – a nationwide, fun competition about the love and fun that comes from owning a dog (a Crufts for mutts!). She has co-presented a strand on ITV’s “This Morning” programme – “The Barking Babes”, trained Ronnie Corbett and his 2 dogs as part of a Children In Need Appeal for BBC 1’s “Celebrity Dog School”, and presented items on the ITV series “What’s Up Dog?”.  She is a regular guest on both television and radio programmes.

Carolyn is an experienced writer, having been the Deputy Editor of Dogs Today. She has written a myriad of features on all aspects of dog care, training and issues, and was nominated for the Writer of the Year Award in the National Golden Bone Awards 2001 for her freelance writing for Dogs Today, when it was said “she could be relied upon to provide a lively, interesting and thoughtful view” and she continues to write for many publications.

Carolyn’s first book is The Dog Manual, published by Haynes – the ideal companion for anyone looking to find their perfect dog and have a happy life together along with Top Trumps Dog book and Beautiful Dogs.

2003 found Carolyn taking on a new challenge organising the hugely ambitious “The Wag and Bone Show” attracting over 15,000 people and 7,000 dogs! It benefited the major animal charities, was a great success. It became an annual event with even greater numbers of dogs and their owners, all having a fun day out.

Carolyn began her canine career working with animal behaviourist Dr. Roger Mugford and has been a horse-riding instructor, chauffeur, civil servant, West end stage manager, drama teacher and actor/presenter, having graduated from drama school in 1990.

Carolyn keeps strong links with many of the animal welfare charities and supports their work wherever possible. She still enjoys training pet dogs as a personal trainer. Carolyn is a member of the Kennel Club Accreditation Scheme for Instructors in Dog Training and Canine Behaviour, the Association of Pet Dog Trainers, the Society for Companion Animal Studies, and the International Society for Anthrozoology.  Carolyn has made a series of training films for The Dogs Trust (The Puppy Plan) and launched her own on-line training The 4 Paw Plan.

Testimonial:

  • You can always tell a successful event by the number of questions the ladies ask …….and they certainly asked them yesterday!                                 Lainston House
